The Rogallo Kite Festival will be held this year June 16-17, 2018 starting from 10 AM – 4 PM at Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. FREE Admission!!!
The Rogallo Kite Festival includes two days of kite flying to honor Francis Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing. His inventions started the sport of hang gliding and his designs have carried over into the stunt kites, power kites and hang gliders that are flown today. In honor of Francis Rogallo and all of his accomplishments, Kitty Hawk Kites will put his ideas on display through flight! Come out and see large kite displays, learn to fly various kites, kitemaking, and more fun activities!
Kitty Hawk Kites and friends will be displaying amazing 30 – 100 ft kites on top of Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Join us and fly a kite of your own, take part in FREE stunt kite lessons, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular kites as the fly in the sky.
Kite flyers, take part in the Revolution kite competition!
Each Day the following events will take place:
Kites on the Dune and Revolution Simulator- Jockey’s Ridge State Park
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Kite Flying Lessons- Jockey’s Ridge State Park
10:00 AM – 12:00 NOON & 2:00PM – 3:00PM
PLEASE REMEMBER: Traditionally, this weekend is supposed to be extremely hot and sunny. While this makes for perfect flying conditions, it also means we all need to respect it and be prepared with plenty of water and sunscreen. If you plan to bring a pet, make sure you have the provisions necessary to keep them comfortable.
